From May 1, the public and private sector will have a special working time from 8:00 a.m., until 02:00 p.m.
In the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 41,623 of April 30, 2019, Executive Order No. 3837 was published, by means of which a special work schedule is established for the Public and Private sectors from 8:00 a.m. until 02:00 p.m., from May 1, 2019 until the period agreed by the National Executive Branch.
The activities that cannot be interrupted, in accordance with the provisions of article 185 of the Executive Order with Rank, Effect and Force of the Organic Labor Law and the articles 17, 18 and 19 of the Partial Regulation of the Executive Order with Rank, Effect and Force of the Organic Labor Law, on working time are excluded from the application of this Order. As well as the personnel of the National Integrated Service of Customs and Tax Administration (SENIAT for its Spanish acronym), the staff of the National Institute of Statistics (INE for its Spanish acronym), the Public and Private Banking sector, as well as the public and private agricultural sector.
Likewise, this Executive Order establishes that the activities in the public and private sector that form the food chain on the national level must operate normally, without any interruption coming from the effects of the declaration made on article 1 of Executive Order N° 3837.
The special working hours that the Executive Order N° 3837 refers to does not constitute in any way a benefit, holiday or special permission for workers, consequently, because it is an exceptional and temporary measure, does not affect the contractual, civil service or labor regime applicable as the case may be.
